About Us


Our mandate is to study the social, health, educational, recreational and other human needs of the Amherstburg area; services available to satisfy those needs; and to promote the orderly development of well-balanced community services, working with the community to identify who can best fill community needs.
 

Members

We welcome new members at all times for a minimum fee of $5 to show commitment. You must be 18 years of age, or over, and a resident of, or a representative of any organization in the Amherstburg area. We welcome your ideas, knowledge and skills.
 

Board of Directors

We are always looking for new members to assist with committees as project, as well as those who may be interested in serving as Directors. The Board meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month from September to June. Call (519) 736-5471 for more information. Elections are held each June for the Board of Directors.

The Youth Council of Amherstburg has been inactive due to lack of leaders and members since 2004. We are looking for someone to assume a leadership role as well as members. If you have ideas for the group call Amherstburg Community Services.

Why be a member?

  • You can become actively involved in the community and have an influence on youth resources and activities;
  • You can develop good contacts with community members and leaders;
  • You can develop and enhance your leadership skills;
  • You can have some good healthy fun and develop new relationships with others in the community.

Youth Council of Amherstburg:

  • The YCA is made up of youth between 14-23 years, working to promote and empower youth, while providing resources, opportunities and events for local youth and the community.
  • The YCA acts as a voice for all youth, striving to advocate, support and identify youth issues and concerns.
  • The YCA also provides Amherstburg youth with power through decision making to influence and create community youth initiatives.

The YCA will represent and promote the voice of Amherstburg youth, providing a positive community image through decision making, proactivity and action, creating leaders of tomorrow.
