SERVICE CANADA Description:
Provide tools and supports to increase a client’s employability. This
responsibility is met through the provision of career counselling and
planning, job search management, labor market information and temporary
income support. Front end offices are now equipped with user friendly,
self-service tools to provide our clients with faster, up-to-date
information. The following lists are examples of some of those
enhancements: Computer assisted resume writers with interview
simulations Computerized employment insurance applications, Automated job bank kiosks with up-to-date local and national job
vacancies, Info centre with a supply of other Government forms and
applications Resource library with labor market and insurance
information, computerized Employment Insurance Cards applications. In addition to the information
already listed, the full service office responds to in-person insurance
and employment enquiries and reviews applications for Employment
Insurance Benefits. Clients are also able to access information from
their homes and other locations: The Employment Telemessage provides
information on our job vacancies, programs and services. The Insurance
Telemessage allows access to information about Employment Insurance. The
Internet provides information on labor market information, programs and
services and local and national job vacancies. One kiosk, located at the
front of each office will be dedicated to Internet access of HRDC and
partner sites. Our remote Job bank kiosks, which are located at numerous
sites within the community provide local and national job vacancies. A
two day “Job Search” session provides job search strategies, resume
critique, labor market information and interview skills. The two day
“Career Exploration Workshop” involves short discussions, exercises
and group activities to assist individuals in exploring career paths.
The two hour “Group Information Session” provides information on the
center's training programs and services. http://www.citywindsor.ca/000581.asp Description: The Employment Resource Centre provides a resource library, self serve computers and job-bank kiosks to assist individuals in seeking employment opportunities. Services include individual employment assessments, vocational planning, job search techniques, resume writing, pre-employment training and liaison for government training programs, including community participation and employment placement. Photocopy, fax machines and telephone service available. Services are available at 400 City Hall Square East, 1st Floor, Windsor and Leamington Mall, 215 Talbot St E, Leamington.STATISTICS CANADA (Advisory Services) Description: The link between the products or services of Statistics Canada and inquiries, research, consultation, education, sales and public communication. Most popular inquiries are for: consumer price index, labour force (employment stats), and census information. A national census is conducted every 5 years. Last census was held May 1996. UNEMPLOYED HELP CENTRE OF WINDSOR Description:
A 3-day workshop assists individuals with professional job search
tools/techniques, resume, cover letter and interview critiquing.
Workshops include discussions on networking, researching employers,
assessing transferable skills, self marketing tools, labor market
information, time management skills and effective communication skills. Windsor Employment Support Services http://www.communitylivingwindsor.org/employmentindex.htm Description: The program offers community employment support to people with a developmental disability.WOMEN’S ENTERPRISE SKILLS TRAINING Description: West exists to provide training to visible minority women who are experiencing barriers to employment. Participants are offered access to computers to update resumes and cover letters, internet access to check labor market information, telephone message centre for employment purposes and access to plan and develop job search options. WEST offers a newcomer settlement program and language institution, employment assistance and computer classes as well as other services. |
