This federal service deals with income tax, goods & services tax
(GST),
excise duties and taxes, air transportation taxes, information, refunds,
etc. It offers both over-the-counter and phone inquiries, publications
and public education. The service also provides training for volunteer
organizations in assisting the elderly, disabled, etc, with the
completion of income tax returns. TIPS is Canada Customs and Revenue
Agency’s automated Tax Information Phone Service which answers the
most common tax questions seven days a week for clients with a
push-button phone and touch tone service. Description:
Credit Counselling is a non-profit agency whose primary functions are
those of personal money management counselling, the arrangement of
consumer debt repayment programs as well as the promotion of consumer
credit education. The agency provides budget counselling services which
set long and short term goals and help the client identify and develop a
budgeting plan and money management skills. The consumer debt repayment
programs provide mediation and intervention on behalf of the client,
while working with his/her creditors to resolve financial issues. The
agency also operates offices in Sarnia, Leamington and Amherstburg. Description:
Each year, the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) prepares
an assessment roll for every Ontario municipality. The roll provides the
assessed value of all the properties in a municipality or in the
jurisdiction of a school board with taxing authority. Description:
