Who is Eligible: Amherstburg Voters Going to Polling Stations in Amherstburg
Amherstburg Community Services (ACS) will provide a free shuttle to voters on election day. The service will provide door-to-door round-trips to polling stations in the town of Amherstburg on October 21. Kathy DiBartolomeo, the executive director at ACS, hopes the free shuttle will remove barriers and help ensure everyone has a chance to vote.
“It’s important to make voting as easy and affordable as possible,” DiBartolomeo said. “We’re doing what we can to help people have their voices heard on election day. Not everyone gets to see it first hand, but for so many of our neighbours, transportation is a massive barrier. By providing this service in town and by offering it for free, we know we’ll be making a difference.”
The service will start at 9:30 am and end at 4:30 pm. Anyone interested in using the shuttle must contact Amherstburg Community Services in advance to book their trip by calling 519-736-5471. The shuttle has limited seating, and voters will be booked on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Donations are being accepted to help cover the costs of providing the free shuttle service. Anyone looking to learn more about ACS, the free shuttle service on election day, or ways to support the organization can call our office at 519-736-5471 or click here to send us a message.
