CANADA MORTGAGE AND HOUSING CORPORATION

Description: CMHC is a Crown Corporation of the federal government. CMHC promotes the construction of new homes, the repair and modernization of existing homes and the improvement of housing and living conditions. CMHC develops, coordinates and delivers programs and services for the housing market, including: Social Housing which provides grants to eligible clients and a variety of other programs; Market Analysis, which provides statistical information, research and development; Mortgage Loan Insurance for homeowners with less than 25% down-payment; and Technical Services, which provides technical information.



HABITAT FOR HUMANITY WINDSOR-ESSEX

Description: Habitat program helps build homes for needy families. Chosen families must invest 500 hours of volunteer time Families must  have a sustainable income and ability to pay off interest free mortgage.



MINISTRY OF MUNICIPAL AFFAIRS AND HOUSING  (Ontario)

Description: The Regional Operations Branch, through it’s regional offices, supports local government by providing municipalities with services, programs and advice on municipal finance and administration, land-use planning, boundary negotiation and municipal structure issues.



ONTARIO RENTAL HOUSING TRIBUNAL 

FORMERLY:  MINISTRY OF MUNICIPAL AFFAIRS AND HOUSING (Ontario)

Description: A quasi-judicial agency that resolves disputes between landlords and tenants about rights and responsibilities, including rent increases, evictions and privacy issues. Provides general information regarding the Tenant Protection Act (TPA). Copies of the Act can be obtained through this office.

Description: A non-profit site that provides information on tenants' legal rights, finding affordable housing, apartment security and even has community info for the Windsor Area.



UNIVERSITY OF WINDSOR OFF-CAMPUS HOUSING SERVICE

Description: Through the Student’s Alliance association, the University of Windsor provides an off-campus housing registry for students. The University neither inspects nor approves housing. Copies of listings, updated constantly, are available at the information desk in the CAW student centre.



WINDSOR COMMUNITY LIVING SUPPORT SERVICES (Community Residential Supports)

Description: The program provides supported community living alternatives that enable individuals with developmental disabilities to live with dignity and respect in the community. Provides residential support on a 24 hour basis.



WINDSOR-ESSEX COMMUNITY CARE ACCESS CENTRE (CCAC)

Description: Health care coordination service -- coordinates a wide range of in-home services to eligible clients including case management, nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, social work, personal support, nutritional counselling, speech language pathology and medical supplies and equipment. CCAC provides placement in long-term care facilities, home and school health, services for children with special needs, oncology program for terminally ill, assessments for government funded day away programs and supportive housing services. Case Managers determine eligibility for drug coverage under the Ontario Drug Benefit (ODB) Plan.
