Information & Referral

ACS maintains extensive resource files on a computerized database where we keep free information on almost any service in our community. We help find solutions to social, legal, health, governmental and environmental needs by providing information directly or by referring inquiries to the appropriate service that can assist with the problem.

Some inquiries come from professionals, resource people or government agencies, but most are from the general public. We can either tell you what you need to know, or refer you to the right resource to assist you. Customized print material may be available for a minimal charge to cover our costs.

All inquiries are strictly confidential and no one outside our staff will know of your inquiry.

Your business/service can be in our database for free! This is a very good way for you to get more people informed of what you have to offer our community. Those who want their records on our database, which will also be available on a public internet site, should give us updates as needed. Due to the new privacy legislation in place, we require a signed permission slip to publish the information. http://windsoressex.cioc.ca/

A steering committee with United Way Windsor-Essex as chair is in the process of formulating a business plan for a 211, one number to call for Information & Referral, for the Windsor-Essex Area.

Our Information & Referral program is funded by United Way of Windsor-Essex County, project grants, municipal grants and donations as well as our own initiatives to raise funds for our programs.

Our thanks go out to the Essex Community Futures Development Corporation for their donation to Community Information to assist us with updating our computer system in preparation for putting our data online for the community. This is greatly appreciated and will be helpful when the public has another option to access our information in addition to our usual phone, walk-in queries and written materials.
