AL-ANON/ALATEEN FAMILY GROUPS

Description: Support groups that share experiences, strengths and hopes related to problems due to alcoholism. Al-Anon and Adult Children of Alcoholics groups are for family members, relatives and/or friends of alcoholics. Young people who have been affected by alcoholism in a family member or close friend are encouraged to participate. All groups meet year round, following and practicing the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous.



BEREAVED FAMILIES OF ONTARIO

Description: Bereaved Families of Ontario provides a caring support system designed to aid families confront, cope with and move through the grief of death within the family with primary focus on the death of a child. “ We are the bereaved helping the bereaved. We can help the healing begin.” There are affiliate offices across the province.

CANADIAN MENTAL HEALTH ASSOCIATION

Description: The services aim to enhance and promote the mental of all persons and support the resilience and recovery of people experiencing mental illness in our community through education, prevention, advocacy and services. CMHA offers a range of services to address the mental health needs of the community, from information and referral, public education and prevention services; to services tailored to meet the needs of individuals recovering from mental illness. Primary care services are now available on site through a new satellite Community Health Centre for individuals with mental illness and also for the general public living within specified geographical boundaries.



CENTRE FOR ADDICTION AND MENTAL HEALTH

Description: The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is a public hospital providing direct patient care for people with mental health and addiction problems. The Centre is also a research facility, an education and training institute and a community based organization providing health promotion and prevention services across the province of Ontario, Canada, and is a Pan American Health Organization and World Health Organization Collaborating Centre.



HOUSE OF SOPHROSYNE

Description: 21-day residential treatment program for women with a chemical dependency. Provides counselling, day treatment program, continuous after-care and follow-up services. Self-help and support groups are available. Offers public education workshops on prevention, causes, addictions, intervention, treatment and support.



UNEMPLOYED HELP CENTRE OF WINDSOR

Description: Services for the unemployed -- variety of career planning and job search skills services based on need. Professionally trained staff provide career exploration and guidance, re-employment/re-training options and alternatives, current labour market information, vocational assessment and planning, job opportunities and advocacy services.



WINDSOR REGIONAL CHILDREN'S CENTRE

Description: Counselling program for children/youth, parents and families experiencing emotional, behavioural and social problems. Individual, parental, family therapy or group sessions are available. The centre conducts on-site psychological and psychiatric assessments.
