Your Thoughts on New Programs

Tell us what YOU Think

This week’s blog post is all about new programs.  At ACS we are constantly looking to expand our outreach and the overall impact that we have on our community.  This often requires us providing new services that people in Amherstburg don’t currently have access to, but need anyways.  We have considered offering cooking and nutrition classes, physical activity days that are open to the public and mentorship programs where seniors work one on one with younger persons to share their experiences.  While many of these will ever be more than just ideas for our organization, it is our hope that some become programs that help ACS reach out to even more members of the community.

One program that ACS is currently considering is snow shoveling for seniors.  Every year, our office receives calls from people who are enquiring if this is a service that we offer, and as of right now, we do not.  We are very seriously considering changing this, but before we do, we want to ensure that there is sufficient demand for this type of service and that there would enough able-bodied persons with flexible schedules who are able and willing to volunteer to help us provide this service.

And this is where we need you.  We need you to send us your thoughts on this potential program; tell us if you know someone who would benefit from it, or if you know anyone who would be willing to volunteer for it.  But please, don’t stop there.  Feel free to message us through social media or directly at our offices if you believe you have an idea that Amherstburg Residents would benefit from.  This is all just one more way that you can make a difference in your community, and one more way to say #IAMACS.
